Shaurya Divas!

Not many events have changed the lives and thoughts of many as have the event of 6th Dec 1992. What led to the demolition of Babri Masjid and what led to the wide spread protests & riots which ensued post this day?

Muslims till then who were pampered on a steady diet of appeasement by the Congress which by then had mastered the art of staying in power by uniting the 'M'inorities and dividing the Hindus. An art which was passed on to dy'nasty' by the Britishers. They are still continued to be treated and are let to be treated as mere vote-banks who just follow herd mentality without putting nation first.

Dec 6th changed all of that. It finally woke up the reluctant Hindu who was deep in slumber and years of oppression by Islamic invaders and Britishers had diminished his fighting spirit. Not to mention the pseudo-secularists who think they are just when they appease minorities at the cost of the majority.

It is true that as a religious majority in India it is incumbent and part of our Dharma for Hindus to protect its minorities as one of their own. But, Muslims have never acknowledged or respected the views and rights of Hindus as a majority and the true sons of the soil. We Hindus take pride in giving shelter to the Parsis who fled Persia in the fear of extermination and now they are one of our own. Did we ever had any issues with Parsis? Have they not flourished? Also, their contribution towards nation building has been immense.

The issue is not just about having a temple. The issue is about honour, pride and devotion to the supreme sacrifices made by our ancestors in protecting our religion as a matter of Dharma.  Islam today has become synonymous with intolerance. The rights they demand when in a minority is not something they wish to provide to those when they are in majority. However, there are many among muslims who are tolerant and have moderate views. But, unfortunately their voices are never heard.

But as Arjuna was on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, we Hindus of today are also confused and hesitant to realise our Dharma. Will our future forgive us for not protecting and raising for the cause of Dharma? A grand temple for Ram in Ramjanmabhoomi is not just a temple for worship but an effort to reinforce the faith bestowed by our ancestors who had made supreme sacrifices against the innumerable crusaders.

It is not symbolism; It is not revenge; It is not sadistic machismo; It is not bullying a minority; but following the path of Dharma. I am 30 years old and sincerely wish to see a grand temple in my lifetime. Will the Arjunas of today get the preachings and directions from their charioteer? or will it take another kick to wake the Arjuna from the lethargy? Only time will tell.
